I was asked by Kristian Geer of Geers of Change to design Cincy Kids, a 44-page children’s book featuring his forced-perspective toy photography and accompanying poetry. The intent is both to sell the book directly and to use the piece to find an appropriate publisher.

I designed the soft-cover, 10″x8″ book using bold, bright colors and large, child-friendly typography, complementing the pop culture-infused content. I art directed the front and back covers as well as the back matter, and edited and proofread the copy. Other than that, I allowed the photography and poetry to take center stage:

I then spearheaded logistics and promotion for the book release party and photography exhibition opening, coinciding with the August Final Friday in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood in Cincinnati. This legal-sized poster was hung in area comic book shops, toy stores, cafés, etc.:

This bookmark-sized handout was another economical promotional piece for the event:

The event received considerable media coverage and attracted more than 300 visitors. I highly recommend following Geers of Change on Facebook and Instagram for some whimsy and levity!
